Peyote, once again

Peyote stitch is a popular handweaving technique that produces a flexible diagonal weave. Sometimes it is used to create beaded clasps or to finalize a work, the two bracelets above are good samples of this use of Peyote stitch. In the peach bracelet, I used single drop peyote to finish this delicate bracelet in an elegant way. Iin the blue bracelet I decided to use a beaded clasp that matches with the whole bracelet, the clasp loop, looks similar to each part of the bracelet. Beaded clasp are also a good solution for people that are allergic to metalic clasps.

But peyote stitch can be used to create amazing beaded jewerly, this stitch allows the designer to use beads in different colors to create interesting patterns like the one I posted in a previous post, but when using peyote the designer can also use beads in different sizes and in this case the resulting piece will have interesting texture and movement.

In the bracelet I bring you this time, I used small bronze beads (size 11) combined with bigger beads in different tones of turquoise and brown. The result is an elegant an classic petote bracelet with small “waves” that has a lot of armony and movement

Brick Stitch and Free Style

Free style jewelry results always interesting pieces that in most of the cases can’t be replicated. It allows the designer to work with different materials, textures and tecniques.

But free style doesn’t mean that there is no logic or undelying order in the design, the final piece should be balanced and armonic.

Following are two of my designs for bracelets that combine free style and brick stitch. The bracelets are formed by two triangles joined using multiple stings of beads in free style, combining colors, styles and textures. The bracelet clasp is done using a button and a loop in peyote stitch.

The first bracelet combines beads in purple tones, and I included some ceramic beads that give to this bracelet an exotic look.

The second bracelet is done in green tones and combines different type of beads including Czech beads, crystals and glass beads.

Tejer Crochet, no lo que pensaba

El Crochet es una conocida tecnica para tejer differented tipos de predas de vestido, mantas y manteles. Fue muy popular en Europa en los comienzos de 1800.

Pero sin llegar tan lejos, yo recuerdo a mi madre tejiendo Crochet por las noches cuando la casa estaba ya en silencio y despues de terminar todas las tareas domesticas del dia. Es mas, hoy dia, yo uso un cobertor para mi cama que mi mama tejio y tambien uso manteles de Crochet en diferentes sitios.

Desafortunadamente, yo nunca aprendi a tejer los hermosos y complicados disenos, y solamente pude hacer los mas simples. Sin embargo, durante una clase de manualidades con cuentas, me mostraron como hacer piezas de fantasia usando esta tecnica. Desde ese momento empeze a experimentar con esta tecnica y los resultados fueron sorprendentes. Desde ese momento, adopte el Crochet como una de mis tecnicas preferidas y comence a hace bracaletes y collares, combinando el Crochet con otras tecnicas.

Pulsera en Crochet

: Collar en Crochet

Esta pulsera es uno de mis mas recientes trabajos en Crochet, use dos colores: verde y naranja. Ademas, utilice differentes tipos de cuentas: cuentas simples en verde, cristales biconos de Swarovski en naranja y cubos tambien en naranja y por ultimo cuentas de vidrio mitad verde y mitad naranja.
El collar es muy elegante, utilizando cuentas en negro y ocre. Para este collar utilice un hilo dorado que le anade brillo y elegancia al collar. No inclui ningun embellecimiento adicional a este collar porque creo que asi tiene major presencia y elegancia gracias a su simplicidad. Utilice un bello broche para cerrar el collar que puede utilizarse en el frente o hacia atras.

Crochet Necklace

Crochet is a well know technique for knitting all kinds of clothes, blankets and tablecloths. It was very popular in Europe and its origins dates around earlier 1800.

But without going so far, I remember my mom knitting crochet in the evenings when the home was quite and all other domestic tasks were done. Actually, today I use a bed cover she made in crochet and other beautiful tablecloths in different places in my home.

Unfortunately, I never learned how to crochet these beautiful pieces and I was capable to make only the simplest ones. However, when in one of my beading classes I realized that we could use crochet to make incredible jewelry I started experimenting with this technique and I was amazed about the results. Since then I adopted this technique as one of my favorites and make many bracelets and necklaces, sometime combining it with other techniques also.

Here are some examples of jewelry I make using crochet.

Crochet Bracelet

• This bracelet is one of my recent works and it is also crochet, I used two colors: green and orange. And different type of beads: green seed beads, orange bycone Swarovski crystals, orange cube crystals and glass beads that are half-green and half-orange.

• The necklace was made using black and ochre Czech beads. For this piece, I used a gold thread that provides shine and elegance to the piece. I didn’t added any more embellishment to this necklace since it has enough presence and elegance based on its simplicity. I used a beautiful gold metal clasp that can be moved to the front as shown in the picture.C

Peyote asymmetric bracelet

Hello world,

In this blog I would like to share my experiences while making beaded jewelry. Since I have no experience in blog writting I would appreciate your comments and ideas to make this a great blog.

My beaded jewerly is made for women that like to feel special, I use high quality materials and high work standards. All my items are hand beaded by me.

I started working with beads almost 5 years ago as a hobby and selling mostly to friends, last year I decided to move forward in this activity and started giving beading classes and displaying pieces in shops for sale, and now I feel that I have a lot of experience and ideas to share with others.

And now, I’m glad to present you a great bracelet that I made some time ago.

When I started this design I never realized the full potential it has, but once I started playing with different tones of beads and creating geometric patterns for each “tile” I got really excited about the result. One of the things I like is that each bracelet looks different, I made 2 pieces in addition to the one in the picture, one for my mother (in the same colors) and one for my mother in law (in black and white). They get compliments all the time and one girl wanted to buy the one my mother wear, she didn’t sell it.
